2024 – Fire Detection Drone

This is an independent personal project. Inspired by global forest fire incidents, this project was designed to improve firefighter safety by tracking fire spread in real time. The drone detects fire, monitors its direction, and alerts personnel with visual signals.

My Contributions:

  • Designed drone framework and assembly in SolidWorks
  • Developed flight and camera control code using Keil & Python
  • Integrated STM32F103, MPU6050, and OpenMV camera for vision and stabilization
  • Tested and optimized detection accuracy and flight stability

Challenge & Solution:

Unbalanced mass caused unstable flight. I redesigned a lightweight camera mount and adjusted the center of mass using mechanical principles.

Outcome:

Stable autonomous flight, accurate fire-color tracking, and reliable mode switching. As my first complete engineering prototype, this project showed me how robotics can directly protect lives.
